Net Neutrality is currently defined as: the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites. This principle is the only thing that currently makes the internet free.

Now for some time, The FCC has been trying to propose a two lane system to the internet. The two lane system will be creating one lane for companies, who pay large sums of money, to be set up with faster speeds, however, the second lane will slow down those companies and websites who don’t pay these prices. Upon creating these two lanes, consumers will not be able to use the internet as freely as they could now with net neutrality still in use. We as everyday internet users would have to pay extra money to our ISP’s in order to, for example, use facebook or google. Another example in the world of this would be cable TV. You get a set amount of channels, but if you want more, you’re gonna have to pay.

As it stands now, thousands of people are flooding the FCC with complaints that this will destroy the internet and everyone on it. That doing this is proving that the government employees running the FCC are corrupted by money from the major ISP’s. The entire idea of getting rid of net neutrality shows that corruption exists in the government and could turn into an outright war against it.
