San Francisco Parks & Recreation plan to replace the 3-acre Kimbell Field from grass lawn to synthetic turf, using ground tire waste. We are requesting that these plans be halted until September 2010, when the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment is due to complete its study on the health and environmental impacts of synthetic turf fields. Please preserve the natural grass lawn at Kimbell Field until we are certain that it is not a public health risk. Thank you.

Just wait for the study. Why the rush to put this stuff down if we dont even know if its safe yet? Seems really reckless to me.

My kids play here every weekend. I dont want them running around on crushed tires. Keep the grass!
