This petition was setup to ADDRESS and PREVENT the proposed pollutant discharge of a potential 3 million gallons of waste water per day into the laurel view river. This volume of waste water discharge would have a significant impact on the ecosystem in the ST. CATHERINES SOUND area and ALL CONNECTING RIVERS. It would impact all forms of aquatic life and all other species of wildlife that coexist. If not designed correctly, the treatment center would have a potential of flowing untreated waste into the river system during unnatural conditions such as heavy rainfals, hurricanes, etc. As a result, contaminating the coastal Georgia area we have been trying so hard to preserve. In addition, I would like to add that a tidal system such as the one we have in Georgia does not support the proposed location for the discharge facility (as the river does not have a consistent outflow of water into the ocean). Instead, our areas tidal flow would hold the contents of discharge in the river system (even forcing it up river). Please refer to this petition as personal opinion until additional information is provided by the county or a meeting is held to discuss the matter. For additional discussion, please refer to: http://www.coastaloutdoors.com/ibf/index.phpshowtopic=19396 legal notice and additional contact information are attached for your reference below. //// Legal Notice Attached for additional information ////// The Coastal Courier Legal Notice Posted on 10/24/2008 PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE ELIMINATION SYSTEM PERMIT TO DISCHARGE TREATED WASTEWATER INTO THE WATERS OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA.
