Final supporters
As you all know, our town has been expanding rapidly over the last few years. That is to be expected with such a wonderful place to live. However, it's time for Hopkinton to get ahead of the expansion before the construction stage. We want to be pro-active in housing developments as opposed to re-active, because we believe we should be involved in how our neighborhoods grow and evolve. This is just the start of Hopkinton residents pushing back and stepping in.
A proposal has been submitted to the Planning Board for a new sub-division on 102 acres of land between the center of town and Route 495, just south of West Main Street. This will be the largest residential development in town since Legacy Farms.
The proposal would connect two cul-de-sacs – Chamberlain Street and Whalen Road – to form a thru-way that would create a serious safety issue on roads not designed for thru traffic in neighborhoods with many families of young children. My signature below affirms my opposition to a cut-through and my support for a project that will preserve the character of existing neighborhoods, avoid unnecessary wetlands disturbances, and provide for public safety. My position is in alignment with goals stated in the 2017 Hopkinton Master Plan.

I grew up in sleepy Framingham MA in the 60s and 70s. I moved to Hopkinton in 1983 because it was a sleepy little town focused on community values, but close to all major routes for commuting. Please, please, please do not make Hopkinton another Framingham with such massive building that we loose the neighborly feel.
Another cut-through, in addition to Lumber St, will require more lights on W Main St and possibly on 85. Congestion on Main is already bad at rush-hour. Loss of downtown business will also result. A bad idea all around.
Enough is enough already....this developement will add nothing but more misery to this already over developed town. More traffic, higher taxes for more schools and town services, less area for precious wildlife. This would not be an asset and I am tired of developers making promises and enticing offers and coming up short.
I grew up at 31 Chamberlain Road. This is a ridiculous expansion that will destroy the fabric, quiet, and safety of the area and the homeowners who chose this town for it's careful balance of nature to buildings.
I have lived on Whalen Road over 14 years. A cut through would destroy the quality of life created by my neighbors and my family. Please respect our investment.

We moved here a year ago from out of state and chose Hopkinton to raise our young family out of all the other towns because of the small town aspect/feel. Please protect that!
