We, the undersigned, do sign this petition to show our support in opposition of any changes made to the Zone or General Plan of the Historic District in downtown Santa Clara that would allow Medium and/or High Density housing inside these areas.
Our reasons are to preserve the heritage and culture that is stated in the General Plan Book page 36 section 4.2 which states, "The downtown with its historic buildings and settlement patterns has a character that makes it truly unique in the region. This identity is an asset for attracting and keeping residents, businesses, and visitors."
We, the undersigned citizens, do not believe that High Density housing fits the Heritage, Culture, or Settlement patterns and would change the value and common community values for keeping its residents and therefore ask you to consider this petition in your decision process.

Please keep the medium and high density housing out of the SC Historical district. Single family dwellings aligned with the Historic Guidelines are what we need to keep as designations to maintain the values, climate and charm of downtown Santa Clara. When people purchase these properties, they know full well that they are purchasing within these boundaries. It's imperative that we not allow variations and rezoning-- for one opens the doors to others. If they do not want to keep within the current zoning, they should sell or not purchase in the first place. Continually badgering city planning and zoning and city council to make changes to already adopted long-term plans to fit personal gain is exhausting. Don't open the lid to pandora's box...it's nearly impossible to close.

Enough with the condo projects already. Our neighborhood streets cant handle the extra traffic and parking issues. leave the zoning alone.
