Between the impending threat ofthe hospital expansion and this re-zonding amendment, I feel like packing up and moving. I commute over 2 hours a day, pay high property taxes, barely see my kids during the work week for one reason: Ridgewood. If the town approves these proposals, then it will no longer be worth the sacrifices I make to live there. Thank you for your consideration. Mary Beth Johnson

Though the developers guess that few children will reside in these proposed high-density units, they have no way of knowing or controlling that. Lots of young families may find these units attractive as a way to access Ridgewood's highly regarded school system without having to purchase a house here. We already have too many children in our overcrowded schools; that's one reason Ridgewood can only offer half-day kindergarten, despite the nationwide trend toward full-day programs. What would an influx of condos add to the character of our community? Nothing--and it would erase some of our small-town charm.
