The state has officially designated this parcel as preserved open space for our community. This outcome is a testament to the persistence of the 343 individuals who demanded that this land remain undeveloped. We will continue to monitor the area to ensure these protections are honored in the years ahead.

We, the below-listed individuals, agree with and support the following Vision Statements for the parcel of State Trust Land (Section 23, T20N, R3E) located between Fox Farm Road and the Missouri River and adjacent to Grizzly Drive: .

  1. The above-referenced parcel of State Trust Land should be dedicated and preserved as open space for present and future generations of residents throughout the Great Falls region.
  2. This site should be a destination area for recreational and educational activities while smart growth occurs around it.
  3. By virtue of its status as virgin prairie, its potentially unique historical and cultural worth, and its diverse animal habitat, this land is highly suitable for education purposes and should be so used.

This great open space of public land is a hidden jewel in our back yard that many people in Great Falls are learning about and using every day! We need to keep this land and the over quarter mile of Missouri River frontage available to the PUBLIC and as OPEN SPACE!

Preserve this open land. My siblings, friends, and I grew up recreating on it and still do. We have many dear memories, and the land is priceless for the spiritual solace and recreational benefits that it brings.

We need to keep Montana lands OPEN and the state does not need to be competing with private citizens as to development. This is Lewis and Clark trail area, still available to native vegetation and wildlife. Once it is gone it is gone....KEEP MT last best place!

Any development on this land should be limited to recreational purposes, not residential. I would like to see more natural-habitat trees planted and perhaps a better path, even dirt, for biking, cross-country skiing, and child strollers.

As a former resident of Great Falls, I know this parcel well. I hope it can be purchased or traded out of state trust status so it can be managed as open space for the public.

This land provides a valuable buffer zone between the city of Great Falls and the developed areas to the south. Many area residents enjoy the open space for walking, jogging, biking and spiritual renewal. The value of open space for the human psyche and the natural world cannot be overstated.
