When this same issue came upon our neighborhood my response was that the beauty of walking under the elder statesmen of our community, its trees and going to our local stores, on a street that has a housing history is more than worth saving. The preservation of the love of a neighborhood as community should be sacred to our Dallas society ; a not for sale issue.

Please don’t change my neighborhood anymore than what’s already been done to it.

I support Elm Thicket’s fight to put zoning protections in place for long-time residents. The City needs to help all neighborhoods with rich African American & Mexican American histories, cultures, & roots with preservation efforts, environmental justice, & housing justice. Outside developers do not care about affordability, diversity, history, or long-time residents’ rights.

Black history is the most underrepresented history in the U.S., let's help to preserve as much as we can.

My family… My grandparents, mother, aunt, both of my uncles as well as myself and now my twenty-seven year old son have lived and thrived in this community since it’s inception in the 1940’s. This neighborhood is historic because it began as a freedman's community after emancipation. I am a Legacy and want nothing more than this community to continue being what it has always been… A thriving traditionally Black neighborhood welcoming to those who wish to conform to our traditions instead of those who want nothing more than to come in destroying our children’s children’s legacy.

I have lived in this neighborhood for years. Mm husband and I bought our home in this neighborhood, raised our children here. We love this neighborhood and we have no plans to sell. We are asking the city to please preserve our Elm Thicket/Northpark neighborhood. We love living here and no one should be allowed to come in and take what we have work for, or tell us how we should live.
