This park was a part of my childhood and islanders should have full access.

Please respect our community. Consider the several solutions local taxpayers have listed on this petition.

I would like to say that one of my first experiences on Lopez was in 2008 when celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday. We had the birthday party at Odlin park cooking hamburgers at one of the fire pits. It was a gathering with new friends, church , and family roasting marshmallows to end the day. We have celebrated mini family reunions, birthdays, graduations and more there. Playing in the cold PNW surf and then coming to a warm fire is what makes lifetime memories possible. Please bring back the pits.

We are residents of Lopez island, and so much of our family time is spent at Odlin spending time together. I was very disappointing to show up and find that due fire rings had been removed because we often pack food to cook down there. Please do not take a way an important past time from the entire island because of a couple People who didn’t follow the rules. I never see. Trash left behind. We do have deputies to clear the park… Thank you

Odlin Park is the one ‘constant,’ precious place on the island that locals gather to celebrate community and revel in the beauty and magic of the place they call home. It’s a meeting place and every local child can enjoy its magic, no matter what their financial situation may be. Community is what people love about Lopez. It’s why they stay. Support holding this space and the opportunity to share the fire for the people of Lopez Island. For the ‘working class,’ Lopez is not an easy place to make a living. Let the locals continue to enjoy Odlin Park as they always have.

Please bring the fire pits back to Odlin Park. The Lopez Community has enjoyed these of generations. The future generations of the Lopez Community should have this same enjoyment.

OK to realize a mistake and reverse course or find another way.

For decades, I’ve gathered with friends & family at Odlin to enjoy an evening fire in the autumn. Please don’t take away the single location on Lopez where this can be done safely & with minimal impact. I understand the growing threat of forest fire & perhaps the fire rings can remain active when the burn threat is low to moderate.
