It will be a great loss for the district if we discontinue Chinese program in the middle school and high school levels.

The Chinese classes my son has had at RIS have been invaluable, and Ms. Ong has been an indispensible part of that. In this day and age, Chinese is an essential tool for our children to learn.

A second language is not an advantageous. It is a necessary skill today.

My son has enjoyed learning Traditional Chinese characters from RIS Chinese class Mrs. Ong in 6th grade and this year 7th grade. She made learning Chinese so much fun and please don't laid off such a good teacher. Other Chinese teachers might not be able teach my son Traditional Chinese. Mrs. Ong teaches other students Simplified Chinese characters in class and allow students to learn and test on both Traditional and Simplified Chinese characters. Thank you!

Mrs. Ong is a very invaluable Chinese teacher. She has taught all my children very well. My eldest is now taking AP Chinese in high school and can carry conversations because of the strong foundation Mrs Ong had given her. My second son is an eighth grader and he's trailing behind his sister in excelling in learning Chinese. I'm hoping my third child who is in 6th grader will have the same success.

We have had 3 children go through Chinese with Mrs. One and looking forward to another one coming in 2 years. Our oldest could not pass Chinese AP without her instruction in middle school.
