As a retired Naval Officer, I always recall the emotional impact of hearing the Navy Hymn being sung at memorial services for Navy personnel. I would consider it sacrilege to transform the North Chapel into anything other than a venue for religious services of all faiths.

1985 - Recruit, Company 161; 2005 - Retired Chief Petty Officer. Lots of amazing memories at RTC/NTC San Diego...the Chapel was a refuge and shouldn’t be transformed into anything else. I was fortunate enough to take my family back to San Diego in 2016 and we visited the USS Recruit and the Chapel...absolutely love that site, albeit almost everything else is unrecognizable.

As a US Navy Chief, and a graduate of NTC San Diego back in 1983. It is a shame that there is even talk about destroying the Chapel. To think of how many sailors passed through those doors, and some never made it home again. We have lost one Chapel already, and now they want to destroy this one as well. SHAME!

As a former Sailor who worshiped in that beautiful hall, I believe it would be a shame to do anything other than maintain it as an historic house of worship. Sometimes we must value the sacred over the temporal, and this is one of those times. Save the chapel.

The Chapel is not only an historic building, but a place of worship that served our military men and women, of all Faiths, and the same to date. It stands as a reminder to all ages, that God is good and all good comes from God thru man - not man alone. Our world needs more "Chapels" than restaurants. As a native Point Loman, I am sadden and outraged that developers that have had their fill of NTC/ Liberty Station - NOW want the Chapel- I call it Greed! In God we trust.

There are plenty of other vacant abandoned buildings on Liberty Station for retail restaurants. Keep this chapel preserved for what it was originally built for!!!

Save the chapel! It’s beautiful and it’s important history, never to be recovered if it gets re-purposed for commercial use. Don’t lose it!

We lost out when McMillin received their sweet deal and this should remain an historical building used for it's original purpose.

I am 72. I grew up a few blocks away from the Chapel. I remember many weddings there. On occasion I attended services there. It is an historic landmark and treasured by the community as an active church. It still "lives" in that it has continued to be used in the manner for which it was intended. It deserves a better fate than to be just another expensive restaurant. Mcmillan is so obsessed with trying to squeeze profits out of a sacred trust that they have forgotten to read the motto on the money they are grubbing: "In God We Trust". Save the Chapel and save an important part of San Diego's living history.

As an Army service veteran I understand the importance to honor the veterans that came before us. The need to preserve their memory for future generations should not be taken lightly.
