I am requesting signatures to present proof that I was present and engaged within Pupil Personnel Services 535: Seminar in Career and Vocational Guidance in Spring 2014. Unfortunately, I did not receive any points for attendance and participation, which pushed my grade to a B-, a non-passing mark. As such, I am appealing my grade and requesting signatures to provide to the appellate committee.
By providing your signature you are attesting that I was in class and fully engaged in the discussions and class material as outlined in the syllabus (see below). You are also attesting that my attendance and presence was evident and brought value to the class discussion. Also, that I showed the utmost respect for the class and all within it (peers and professor).
The terms that discuss attendance and participation within the Syllabus for PPS are as follows:
According to the syllabus under roles and responsibilities section 2:
"The course depends
upon active class participation and demonstration of respect for others. Students are expected to be on time for each
class as a tardy arrival disrupts the learning environment for classmates. A timely arrival shows respect not only for
fellow students but for the various guest speakers sharing their expertise with
the class."
Also, in the syllabus under Attendance and Participation:
"This course
relies heavily upon the ongoing experience of class members with one another.
Therefore, every effort should be made to attend and actively participate in
all class meetings. Students will meet regularly in small groups for
discussions and for presentation. Your participation grade will be based both
on attendance and work production (i.e. the quality of work your group
completes during the semester). You will
run the risk of dropping a grade if you do not participate in class/group
discussions."
Please sign this petition if you felt that I adhered by all the terms listed above.
