That the taxi service is a form of transport for commuters comparable to the train network and the bus network; therefore we wish to go under the same regulations that govern the pre-payment of fare. Especially today taxi drivers are continually faced with assaults and run away passengers who fail to pay the fare they owe leaving the taxi drivers unpaid.

The undersigned petitioners therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to:

Authorise taxi drivers to request the prepayment of estimated fares that are agreed upon by the commuter and the taxi driver at the beginning of the journey at the discretion of the taxi driver. The difference in fare as shows on the taxi metre can be adjusted at the end of the journey according.
