To the Coppell High School math department with full respect:
In PreAP Geometry I have been learning difficult material throughout the entire year. However, the recent unit over regular polygons is too difficult to absorb and comprehend it to where I could do well on the quiz on Friday. I am a student who cares about his/her grades, even if it is just a quiz because every grade matters. If perhaps I was given more time to understand the material and given practice I actually understand in class over it, then I feel it would be appropriate to be quizzed over it. That, unfortunately, is not the case. It seems as though the entire unit has been compressed and quite frankly, I feel I have not had enough preparation to where I could be handed a quiz and ace it. I have been expected to know and understand polygons, finding the areas of polygons, polygon vocabulary, formulas to find the interior and exterior angles of polygons, finding areas of shaded boundaries, and being able to apply all of these to more higher-level situations and multi-step problems. This quiz is also a postponed quiz that was originally scheduled to be taken on the week with a lot of weather problems.
By signing this petition, I believe this is not right and that the PreAP Geometry quiz on Friday March 6, 2015 should be postponed to a later date orshould be changed to an open note quiz.
I have no idea who CHICKEN is, or even if this person is a student at CHS, but I am one of the Pre-AP Geometry teachers and have read through all of these disgusting comments. Those of you blasting the students that are expressing their honest opinion about having issues with this information should be ashamed of yourselves. Being egotistical and demeaning just shows what type of people they are. Please ignore them and understand that your comments are valid and being read by other teachers at CHS as well. Please talk with your teachers tomorrow about this reasonable request.
