The silence from the Board is quite concerning to me. The abolishment of positions (the music program), the rate hike, the refusal to provide any factual justification to these decisions and the sudden turnover of staff and directors forces me to re-question Villa Maria. My daughter loves the school and Villa Maria was her choice.
There were 2 main drivers for her decision, the music program and the “word of mouth” from past alums. My younger daughter is to start Villa in the Fall of 2020 and she was devastated to find out that there is no music program for her.
The board has made decisions that remove a huge competitive advantage. Moreover, I am being asked by friends and family if I recommend Villa for their children and I am telling them that I am concerned with the direction Villa is heading. Villa is starting to lose the "word of mouth" as well.
There is definitely something going on at the Board level that cannot be shared with us "the Customers" and it must be of very confidential nature. This worries me, since I have experienced something similar in the past in a company I used to work for. I am concerned that there may be problems at Villa that stretch far beyond the music program and the staff turnover. These may only be symptoms of the real problem.
I think it is time that the Board opens the dialogue with the parents and together, I am sure we can find a solution to all this nonsense.

It is unacceptable that the administration of a private school as prestigious as Villa Maria shows no openness to any constructive dialogue or partnership with the “clientele” it serves.

At the very least, the board should be communicating with the parents.

as a student and participant in this movement, i fully support all of the actions from the sos villa maria committee who have bravely give us the ability to use our voices when our oppritunities to do so have been stolen. we all deserve a halt on the decision to take away our music school. months of fighting have not even been gotten a response from villa administration. we deserve acknowledgment.

I have heard this administration promise to change and be more transparent over the years my children have been at Villa. Unfortunately, they continue to make the same mistakes - making decisions without consulting families, disregarding feedback, and refusing to have parents represented on the board of directors. It’s time for a change.

Keep the music program. It is incredible, unique and a huge asset to Villa Maria.
Thank you .

Unfortunately, I have seen no attempt on the part of the administration to engage in genuine dialogue with parents. The music school is an award winning, exceptional school that deserves to remain open.

Villa Maria has so far been such a wonderful experience for my daughter; we are terribly distressed to see the shocking, mindless abolishment of the excellent Music School, which has been such an important part of her happy and fulfilling experience so far, and perplexed by the strange attitude and behaviour of the school direction, which seems so much at odds with the school's traditions and philosophy. Please do not destroy what makes Villa such a special place!

Parent consultation is a requirement in the public education system. Why can't it be the same at Villa Maria?
