Postponing c/o 2024 White Coat Ceremony until an in-person ceremony is possible
We, the class of 2024, recognize that COVID 19 is and can continue to affect our M1 medical school experience. We will continue to approach these changes with flexibility and understanding because we know it is in the interest and safety of our fellow students and respected faculty. However, we do not agree with the idea of a virtual White Coat Ceremony. We are proposing postponing our White Coat Ceremony until we can have an in-person commemoration in Detroit in which our family and friends can share this momentous milestone with us. We understand that may be months down the line, but the persons who have signed this petition are willing to wait. We suggest having our coats distributed to us during our first week on WSU's campus to proceed with any events that require White Coat Attire. Though unorthodox, we believe we can still begin our M1 year with the WSUSOM emblem on our coat's sleeve and carry out our school’s mission without a traditional ceremony to honor our first steps but yet have an experience to look forward down the road.
