Why can't graduation be postponed? Even if it was at the end of the year, I'd rather have one in person than half-assed online.

Give us our graduation and let us walk. This isn't just for us but our families as well, everyone who supported us. We aren't saying we don't care about COVID or the safety of others, we're saying we want what we've been expecting. Make this right and allow us to walk in the future.

We deserve to have a decent IN PERSON commencement. Please do not consider your own convenience over our deserved once in a lifetime memories.

After studying so hard for so long, the students, my daughter in particular, deserve the ceremony for graduation.

My husband has worked sooo hard for his bachelor's and he deserves to walk across that stage and feel the recognition and pride. PSU seems like they are trying to take the easy way out and please the media. They are not considering what this means to their individual students. I know that with so much unknown, it is hard to plan a ceremony, but to not even try is insulting and heartbreaking. Please just postpone the ceremony. You are taking away a once in a lifetime experience for soooo many people.

Graduation is an important and crucial component of a student’s life. Years of hard work, student loan debt, and mental/emotional struggle will not be satisfied with a “virtual” graduation.

Amid the corona virus pandemic I and everybody signing this petition understand the safety concerns that go with the graduation. This is why it should be postponed but not cancelled altogether. People have been working through more than we can imagine to reach their goals and graduate. Whether it be missing family functions, little moments that could’ve been spent with loved ones, a birthday, a the birth of a life, are all being sacrificed for this one good thing as a stepping stone for these individuals futures. When the things start getting better, the entire world will be playing catch up and be extremely busy, Portland State University needs to realize they are not an exception and do their part. Give these hardworking people who paid your tuition fees and gave up so much a graduation they deserve to continue moving forward and doing great things and accomplishing the greatest endeavors this world needs.

My daughter and all of her fellow students have earned the right to celebrate their success when it becomes safe to hold a graduation ceremony, however long it takes to reach that point. Please delay the ceremony until then, but do not cancel it.
