Allow post paid mobile/data plan users in India to terminate /change connection from internet login

Ever wondered why a post paid mobile, mobile data plan user in India cant' terminate or close his connection via is internet account login "Even after clearing all his/her dues".

I have been an user of Reliance post paid data card for good 8 years , paying my bills religiously every month. Off late I have not been using the connection that's when I thought of terminating the connection. I went to a reliance store to do the same, but the store manager convinced me to convert the connection to prepaid connection.

I filled up the required form and submitted it in the store, I was expecting validation call from Reliance communication but nothing happened. Instead I got bill for the next month, I went to reliance store and enquired about the bill. This time the store manager dialled the validation department and passed on the phone to me.

When I requested the operator to change the account status to prepaid, she mentioned that account was a prepaid account from day one and there is nothing she could do.I requested her to provide her name or employee ID and she mentioned that its against corporate policy.

Subsequently I called the validation department again and again and again and they always gave the same answer that the number is a prepaid one, but still kept sending bills every month. At this point I totally stopped using the device as well as paying any further bills.

It felt Reliance communication held me for ransom; every month sending bills; calling me and threatening me. Then the calling stopped and I thought my deliverance has come. But alas I was not so lucky, today a lawyer from Reliance called me up conveying that they have put a case against me in consumer court. He wanted me to negotiate, to which I declined.

I know it will not be convenient going to the court; but I could not convince myself to back down and be bullied by RCom.

I would like to question all mobile operators and especially Reliance communication:

"Why Why Why the customer is not allowed to close / change connection status via internet login, Why you have all the rights in world and the customer has none"

This needs to change !!!!
