Better - Larger signs approaching the rail crossings + further back from the crossing not just as you are approaching same.

There are a number of improvements that can be made to make rail crossings safer in country areas.
1. Remove all visual obstructions (trees, shrubs etc) 50m in both directions for trains approaching a crossing.
2. Use reflective raised bumps on the roads 50-100m approaching rail crossing.
3. Ensure that the flashing lights system is NOT in direct line of sunlight when in operation as oncoming vehicles cannot see if the lights are flashing or not.
4. Boom gated systems for all crossings where vision is obstructed by vegetation and/physical objects close to town limits.
5. Have the speed limit signs moved further away from the crossing (especially approaching town limits).

as well as better signals what about better identification on the trains an there wagons Big Fluoro orange X on each one and strobe lighting on the front of train

It is sad that a life is lost...just because he went to work and didn't come home back to his family. He was doing his job...surely warning signals installed at a safe distance for a road train to stop...they have it for busy hidden intersections in the metropolitan intersections.
