This petition calls for Congress to pass a law that requires that all management of our ports to be conducted by either elected officials or contracted to companies located here in the United States. I must admit I was naive. I assumed that since are ports are part of our government that they were managed by port commissions or contracted to management companies located here in the United States. With all the negative news about big companies out sourcing jobs outside the country it is surprising that our own government is out sourcing the management of our ports to companies outside the United States. Top reasons to end foreign management of our ports. 1. Security: Our ports are one of the most sensitive access points to our country. Even though we manage the security do we want people from foreign countries having access to every detail about how one of our ports is run, how to access the port, possible vulnerabilities of the port and access to how the ports security operates. 2. Economics: Is it right for our government to out source high paying management jobs to people outside the United States 3. Taxes: Our ports are run by taxes and fees charged to the citizens of the US is it right to take tax money and give it to companies outside the United States 4. Government: We are all familiar with the concept of government of the people, by the people and for the people. Managing a port is equal to governing the port. Is it right to have any part of our government run by people outside the United States or should we always be governed by our own people This petition will be delivered to the President, the leaders of both political parties in the House and the Senate. It is our goal to deliver 2 million plus signatures by June of 2006. its common sense! why are we letting people from other countries run something as critical as our own ports?? seems like a huge security risk to me.

Security first. Foreign companies have no business looking at our port logistics.

I had no idea this was happening. Unbelievable. We need to wake up and look after our own interests for once.

Keep our infrastructure local. Too many jobs leaving the country already.
