Proposed AG Center with INDOOR Stadium for Equestrian & Other Use

Proposed AG Center with INDOOR Stadium for Equestrian & other use!!
County Commissioner’s Meeting
August 5, 2014
I met with Marty Smith, Chairman, John Wilson 4 th District (mine) and
Kevin Jackson 5 th District who is overseeing the AG Center Planning.
They were all very positive about including a significant venue for
Equestrian activities. The plan for this meeting was only for approving a
feasibility study to find out about cost etc.
This plan will also eligible for SPLOST funds as well. Marty and
Kevin said they would put me on the list of interested parties for when a
committee is to be formed. I intend, after gathering as much info as
possible create a Facebook page for notifying the Equestrian Community.
We will need to make sure Stable owners and trainers are represented in
the committee, and the plan is developed by knowledgeable architects.
The center will include an "enclosed arena" and other outdoor areas. I
want to make sure this facility is built and the public and elected
officials know it is not all about cows and pigs! Every time I mention
this facility to horse people I get an unconditional response of
enthusiasm and excitement. I feel if we all pull together we can make
this happen. Networking will be of key importance. Please forward this
to as many interested parties as possible.
Most non-equestrian
people have no idea how far we travel and how deeply we are dedicated to
this activity. I found 72 Farms-Stables between us and Atlanta and 14
between us and Anniston. Alabama. A center of this quality in Carrollton
will put West Georgia on the map as a destination for equestrian
activities.
I have spoken to Mrs. Green at the 4H as well they are
also very much in support. I was told the County Extension Agent was
helping organize support including 4H
I have started a petition. I
feel that if I show up and say hundreds of people are interested, well
who am I? If I show up with 1,000 signatures (which is my goal) there
will be no doubt of the interest. I have no doubt we can do this.
1-I have given a signup sheet to Sharon Wallace Notch @ Wallace Supply in Bowdon Junction.
2- One to Amy Carter of Carter Farms Bowdon,
3 - And one to Regina Shellnutt who is the director of the 4H Horse
club in Carroll County and who is associated with Chase Meadow Lane
Farm. It is not nearly enough.
Tomorrow I will
approach, Tractor Supply, The Cowboy Store, Barns Store (near the
proposed site which sells western gear) and possibly sites in Newnan. I
plan to make these petition sheets available to all barns-stables in my
area. It may take a while.
I will let everyone know of updates.
Alright Horse Folks, let’s get it done!
Eddie B
PS - After you have signed the petition, you may see a screen asking you to donate to the ipetitions website, but this is voluntary and is certainly not a requirement to participate in the petition, so please do not let it deter you from supporting this much needed facility.
