NEW DELHI: Before renting out her three-bedroom flat in Greater Kailash-I, Manisha Sukheja made it clear that families with a pet were a strict no-no. That's because her previous tenants had a Labrador and the terrace served as its toilet; sometimes the dog would relieve itself on the ground floor. The barking and stench became so overpowering that she had to ask the family to move out.

Hers is not an exceptional case. Many new housing projects in and around the capital are including a no-dog/cat policy in their conditions as there are no provisions to dispose of their waste. Expecting pet owners in India to pick up the poop would be asking too much.
