Yes to Poo Free Parks!
Poo Free Parks has contracted with the City & County of Denver to manage dog waste in City parks with an environmentally-friendly approach. Please voice your support for the program and the City's commitment to this contract, which is in jeopardy at this time. Poo Free parks is a green-themed, community based program that will help eliminate dog waste in our City parks at no cost to taxpayers. Pet waste can ruin an otherwise beautiful park, creating health hazards and an unsightly mess. The current system does not address the proper disposal of pet waste or the large amounts of plastic that accumulate. Through this partnership with the City and Poo Free Parks’ sustainable approach, we are not only addressing environmental issues, but the preservation of one of Denver’s greatest attributes. The dog waste dispensers are made from 100% recyclable aluminum and the bags are 100% bio-degradable, specifically designed to biodegrade within 18 months. Sponsors of this environmentally-conscious project will help defray costs for equipment, installation and maintenance. The program is estimated to save the City an estimated $100,000 each year by delegating pet waste tasks to a private entity. We are confident this program will allow residents and visitors to continue enjoying our City parks, while disposing of pet waste properly and reducing the amount of harmful plastics at no cost to the City or taxpayers. Please show your support for the Poo Free Parks program by signing your name to the petition and forwarding it along to others who you believe supports our parks, our community and our environment. We thank you for your support!
