To: The Board of Directors of Poly Prep
From: The Undersigned Parents of Poly Prep

Having read the full legal complaint filed by Lisa Della Pietra as well as the news media coverage of the filing, we wish to express our grave concern with the effect this matter is having on the education of our children and the reputation of Poly Prep. While we remain hopeful that these allegations are found to be false and without legal merit, we are adamant that changes must be made without delay to preserve the integrity of the school. To that end, we ask that the following happen immediately:

1. A subcommittee of the Board should be formed to investigate and address all of the allegations in the complaint. The subcommittee (i) should be empowered by the Board to conduct a full investigation, without interference, (ii) should have the right to engage outside advisors to the extent the subcommittee believes necessary (it being understood that the undersigned parents believe that the use of outside, independent counsel and/or investigators will be an important component of the process), (iii) should consist entirely of members of the Board that are independent of the allegations contained in the complaint, with any current members of the Board who are mentioned in the complaint being recused from the process and (iv) should include a parent Board member who will be selected by the Parents Association. Final composition of the committee will be disclosed to the parent community.

2. Steven Andersen must be placed on leave pending the outcome of the subcommittee's investigation. During his leave, Mr. Anderson should not be on school grounds and should not contact any school personnel without subcommittee consent.

3. The subcommittee should commission an audit of the Development Office, including a review of expense reimbursements and how funds donated to Poly have been spent over the last five years. The results of these audits must be transparent and reported to the Poly community. If an audit has already been conducted, the full Board should have access, as should the parent community.

4. A new communication detailing the steps being taken by the Board should be issued to the Poly Community. It is important that this communication come from the Board and its new subcommittee to demonstrate the Board's commitment to handling this crisis with impartiality and integrity.

We look forward to the Board's prompt action and to a renewed commitment to Poly's mission: to act with intelligence, imagination and – above all – character.
