As a transgender and bisexual person myself, being in the southern U.S. and in public school was very scary and I only felt like I could trust certain people with myself and my identity. I never used the bathrooms that corresponded with my gender out of fear and discomfort and was afraid of people saying the wrong things to me by outwardly showing affection to people of the same sex or that I was not straight. I don't want more LGBT kids to have to go through the fear and anxiety I went through in the public school system.

In today’s world gender identity is being recognized everywhere besides schools. It’s time for that to change. Our children deserve more understanding and acceptance.

The policy is non discriminatory and it should include everyone. There should be no room for hate in the Flagler county school system

As a trans man, and former student of Matanzas High School, this policy needs to change. I was harassed by both students and faculty (including administrators) during my highschool years and I was unable to do anything because of the wording of rules. This must change.

As an avid member of the community, and as a proponent for LGBTQ rights, the acknowledgment of gender identity is a crucial component of any modern society. For our children, this is but a stepping stone towards a brighter future.

This school district should be a safe place for all students, and any feeling of abandonment by any group of students should be considered a failure on behalf of the school district that must be amended immediately.

I am signing this petition as a message to the school board that we must protect all students. I made a comment at the October meeting that these people aren't hidden, they are our peers, friends, and family. All people, no matter their gender identity, deserve to be treated equally in an academic environment.
