LGBTQ students need to be protected and feel safe in their school environment. This policy change for gender identity will help. The school board is there for all students. Passing this policy is paramount to fulfilling your duty as a member of the board.

People should not be scared to be in there own skin at school. Its unfair, there are straights (no hate <33) that make fun of LGBTQ+ people just bc of what they identify as. It is not fair to those who are also struggling at home. School should be one of those safe places that LGBTQ+ and everyone.

By detailing other groups in the current policy the door is opened and you must detail any and all groups...or detail no specific group on the policy. Whether or not YOU feel they are protected or not is irrelevant...perception is reality and there are groups of students that feel they are vulnerable based on not being included in the current policy.

There is absolutely no reason that a student should feel unsafe or discriminated against in their place of learning. It should be included without question because trans and non-binary people deserve explicit recognition and legal protection.
