The Fraternal Order of Eagles #1900 has been an active part of the Plymouth community since Incorporating in 1909. They Eagles are an international non-profit organization uniting fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope. Eagles have played a key role in many major accomplishments of our time including the founding of Mother's Day, and they served as driving force in founding Social Security Program. Current projects that the Eagles national are participating include fulfilling its pledge of $25 million dollars to fund the Diabetes Research Center at the University of Iowa. Recently on September 24th the Eagles presented the third check of $5 million dollars to the University. Another active part of the Eagles is the Memorial Foundation. With the Memorial Foundation children of deceased members who die while serving their country or at work are able to attend college or vocational school with grants up to $30,000. They can also receive medical assistance including payments to physicians, dentists, orthodontists, and hospitals. The cost of eyeglasses, prescriptions, as well as medical and dental devices is also included. Locally our Plymouth Eagles has raised thousands of dollars by just collecting spare change at the Blueberry Festival for Riley’s Children’s Hospital Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit in Indianapolis. This year we have raised over $1,500.00 towards the Eagles State Project which is to purchase and equip a Neonatal Intensive Care Transport Ambulance for use by Riley’s. This ambulance come’s with a price tag of over $250,000.00. But has the capability of pulling over during a transport and performing surgery if needed. The Plymouth Eagles has also donated to 8 other State Charities. Locally they have held numerous benefits for individuals and other non-profit organizations. Recently they held a benefit for Ben Boys that had an attendance of over 520 people making donations. They have donated too many local organizations such as the Heminger House, The Firemen’s Memorial Golf Outing, as well as the Mayor’s Meth Rehab house. Fraternal Club’s in the past few years have seen a dramatic decrease in membership and donations. The Plymouth Eagles in 2009 was faced with a tough decision. Due to the decrease in membership and the financial state of the Aerie, they were almost forced with closing the doors. Threw a meeting by its members, it was decided to make a drastic change. That year in officer elections, all candidates were young men under 35. This was a big step in the direction of increasing the membership and educating the “Y” generation of the importance of Fraternal Social Clubs. Threw the hard work and dedication of these officers and new members the Plymouth Eagles became a leader in the State of Indiana in membership growth and turned the Aerie around. The Eagles still runs as it has for the past 4 years a completely volunteer organization. The Eagles are asking you to help show your support for us by signing this petition. We appreciate you taking a stand with us and showing that we are a positive influence on the community. Also that Eagle members and officers are good upstanding citizens.
