Brian and Martina, do you know if there has there been a group formed to support the trainee pilots & their families?
My son is one of those unfortunate trainees.
I would be interested in connecting with other parents effected by this.
Bernadette.

I went for the Selection process for PTC and their Future pilot programme in London. I got through to the final selection process. In order for me to progresses onto the Integrated scheme required a one up payment of £50,000+. What a lot of people didn’t know back then mainly through lack of research was the ability to pay the school in lump sums, i.e pay for the CPL then IR etc., pay as you fly. If you even look on BALPA's website it even states there that you should never pay a school a massive one off payment just in case this does happen and let’s be honest it’s not the first time. Cabair one of the best schools in the UK went bust leaving students in debt before they even started their training. The likes of ATPL finance and other companies offer this where and I quote “ATPL Finance then keep the funds in a holding account and administer them to the flying school/training provider in amounts up to one third of the amount borrowed. This means if the school ceases to trade or cannot provide your flight training any longer, ATPL Finance can place you with another affiliate school. ATPL Finance covers the risk of the school ceasing to trade”, BALPA too have a whole section on financing!

My brother and his family have been left devastated by this company, having borrowed the money in order to support there son into his chosen career choice. They are ordinary very hard working people and will be paying off this debt for the rest of there lives. The government need to ensure that the people behind this company are made to pay back the many people who have been ripped off by PTC.
A situation I wouldn't like to be In
