Egg-laying hens in battery caged farms, are forced to live in the most horrific conditions. Confined to a small wire cage about the size of a piece of paper, hens are unable to move or spread their wings. Hens also share that tight space with several other hens. These cramped living conditions often stress out the hens and cause them to have many medical problems. Pledging to be egg free for a week will decrease the demand for eggs and, if a large enough group makes this pledge, it will drastically affect the egg industry and could change the battery cage system as we know it.
