My name is Claire Law and I am the oldest daughter of Jill Edery. Thank you for taking the time to read this petition. It is my hope that people will read, sign and share this petition so light can be shed on what has happened to my mom. On July 29th my mom’s employment was terminated by Kilohana. My mom has worked at Kilohana Preschool for 27 years. Born to do what she does there, she is the most dedicated, kind and caring teacher you could ask for. She brings smiles to the faces of the children every day and when they leave they never forget Miss Jill and their experiences with her and all they learned from her. When she is not working she always runs into children of all ages who went to Kilohana over the years. They are always so happy to see her, giving her a hug and telling her how they are doing. When I am home in Hawaii I am always beyond proud when people speak so highly of her, expressing their gratitude for all her hard work and all she has done for their children.

Please read the letter below written by one of the parents of Kilohana.

Sincerely, Claire Law

Letter from Marina Snazina

I’m not good at writing petitions but I’ll try my best, I simply couldn’t forget about it and be a silent observer of what has been happening in my child’s preschool that has been my daughter’s second home for the last three years. Among all the bad things I want to draw everyone’s attention to how our favorite aid, Jill Edery, who worked at Kilohana for over 20 years was treated last month and bring the ones responsible for these actions to justice. Jill was a true blessing to my daughter and many other kids in Kilohana for many years. She is the kindest, the sweetest and the wisest friend my daughter ever had. My daughter started Kilohana at the age of 3 being a non-English speaker, which I though was going to be a challenge, but thanks to wonderful teachers in Kilohana, and Jill in particular, who was her afternoon aid most of the days, my daughter thrived in preschool from the first days. Jill was always in her stories about how her day was and all the songs and dances Jill taught her along with many wonderful stories are still in her mind and heart. Seeing Jill with kids always brought ease to many parents who felt anxious leaving their kids in the morning and going off to work. Even though we graduated Kilohana this spring we kept in touch with many parents and teachers and were simply shocked when we heard not only Ms. Jill was fired but how rude and inhumane she was treated when given her termination notice. Not only there was no heads-up or explanation of why she is being terminated, the preschool board representative and the pastor of the church were using force to make her leave the school premises immediately without answering any of her questions and threatening to call the police on her. The woman who dedicated over 20 years of her life to the school and the children, who were her life doesn’t even deserve an explanation why she is being fired on the spot??? Is that how Christian church treats people? Judging by the fact the school has hired a new director, who is in her twenties and is implementing her NEW approach, I do believe Jill’s age was a huge factor in this horrible situation. And on top of that the preschool board representatives had the audacity to accuse her of child endangerment behind her back. Jill is the most cautious aid there is and I will never in my life believe these false accusations. That’s the most painful and hurtful thing that anyone could have said about Ms.Jill and someone has to answer for that. With this letter I wanted to bring awareness to as many people out there as possible and since I’m far from the only one who agrees with all of the above, I decided to collect as many signatures as possible to help show how many people are just as shocked and appalled by what happened. No one deserves to be treated this way. Especially someone as kind and wonderful as wonderful as Jill who dedicated so many years to Kilohana school and its children.
