Common Core is simply the dumbing down of our children. Our kids deserve the BEST, to be challenged, to learn critical thinking, not group-think and the herd mentality. And NH deserves Frank Edelblut to serve as Education Commissioner. He is a smart man who KNOWS how to solve problems. He does not deserve the treatment he is getting from the likes of Mr. Vollinsky and Company.

Time to put education oversight back in the hands of the states, where it belongs. Read Crimes of the Educators, by Samuel Blumenfield.

There should not be only one way to teach/learn. Children need to be able to expand their minds and teachers need the freedom to teach on their own individual level especially when proven to be successful when doing it "their own way". Common Core is restricting our children's growth and causes more frustration than it's worth. Get Rid of it!

We have got to get Common Core our of our schools now. It is sickening to hear parents say their children are not getting the education they deserve.

Repeal NH common core. Cease routine state testing evaluations. Start teaching our children with care and quality they way we used to. Stop the endless pilot testing of programs and curriculum.

I support democratic public schools and I should be able to question and appeal my child's curriculum without punishment.

Our school, Lisbon Regional High, blindsided parents with Common Core--never calling it CC, rather using words like new College and Career Ready Standards, taking kids into the 21st century, Rigorous New Standards, Internationally Bench marked. We were duped and lied to--but more than that, never asked. The best the SAU superintendent could offer at a school board meeting where parents went to voice concerns was "these standards have been around for a long time". Local control is gone. Common Core is a con job and so purposefully misleading in its implementation, many parents don't even know it is in our school. LRS is careful not to use the words CC. I only learned what it was by asking in a private email, directly to the superintendent, if the new standards were CC or something else? The SAU is fully on board and parents are an annoyance. Parents are replaced by government. In addition, at least in our school, they silence objections from students to the dumbed down standards by implementing Habits of Learning. My son complained, and although he got all 4s, the new "sort of" version of an A, would never make it on Principal's List again. He was too frustrated with the new system and said so. His Habits of Learning were the stick to coerce silence and be a good student. Freedom of Speech? Not for kids vocal about their dislike of CC. A letter to the Principal about what was happening? Unanswered. Did the local school board vote on this? Unanswered. Parents in our town have moved, began home schooling, or tried desperately to get into private schools. This is huge in our community and it appears, at least to the school, no big deal. The action plan appears to be: If you ignore parents, ignore student concerns, eventually they will be silenced and comply. The standards aren't going anywhere, and parents will give up. Thank you for your work on behalf of parents and students in our state.

Our children deserve better, education should be controlled at a LOCAL level! Common core standards weren't even created by educators it was created by the highest bidders like everything else our out of control government tries forcing on us.

Common core has done nothing but dumb my brilliant child down and make him struggle. Unfair and unnecessary bring back traditional and stop trying to make the next generation dumber.
