The 'good clean' comic genius and photographic quality of Laurel and Hardy films made 80 years ago never cease to impress. They have slapstick for the young viewer and quite subtle social dialogue for the more discerning viewer. Great snapshots of a lost world which should be introduced sympathetically and screened more frequently to a mainstream public.

The 'good clean' comic genius and photographic quality of Laurel and Hardy films made 80 years ago never cease to impress. They have slapstick for the young viewer and quite subtle social dialogue for the more discerning viewer. Great snapshots of a lost world which should be introduced sympathetically and screened more frequently to a mainstream public.

I believe it is very short sighted of the media to ignore the comedy of Laurel and Hardy. The films appeal to viewers of all ages, and never grows tired. If more effort were put into showing older films like these as they are into putting on "Big Brother" type shows for the partially labotomised, then I believe we would all be better off!
