Washington school parent here. If my son at Washington was not able to attend his neighborhood summer camp because his special needs brother was going to be there at extended school year our entire family would be very upset. I would never want other kids denied the opportunity to enjoy their neighborhood summer camp because my special needs child was going to be there. We work hard to get our son included wherever we can. Regardless of the reason, denying the Wilson kids their camp is not a good message to send to our Wilson school neighbors. Extended school year could be moved again in the future and the same issue would exist. I hope a solution can be reached that will allow both groups of kids to coexist this summer at Wilson as they did last year at Washington. There are so many good reasons to make this work!

Please reconsider having the playground camp at Wilson. My son was looking forward to it and if it is not held at Wilson I do not think we will sign up this year.

We are always amazed at how much our boys anticipate and sincerely love this camp every summer. They haven't been told yet, but will be crushed if a compromise can't be worked out. I cannot see why a solution can't be reached where both programs can exist in the same school??

This is the second time in 5 years that Wilson has had the playground camp moved to another location. I live across the street and my son loves going every day. Being able to walk there by himself makes him feel very responsible.

One of the aspects of Wilson Playground that my son values most is the freedom and relative safety of riding his bike or walking to/from Wilson. If he is forced to Washington or Franklin for Summer Playground, he would need to cross either E. Broad St. or Mountain Ave., very busy streets that I will not allow him to travel on his own due to safety concerns. I'm welcoming of solutions around ensuring the safety of children participating in both summer programs.

Having the Wilson kids go to Washington or Franklin creates an issue for those kids typically able to walk to school. Additionally, splitting them among two schools dilutes their ability to play with their school friends which impacts the kids socially as well as working parents from arranging carpools etc.

I am troubled that a decision to dismiss playground camp at Wilson school was made by the BOE with out any notice or consult with the families whose decision this effects. It is only in registering my children now for playground camp with the recreation department that we learn of this decision.

My family is disappointed to hear the Wilson playground camp has been canceled. Sending my children to another school in Westfiend would be like sending them to another district since they arent familiar with the school, grounds or children. I’m especially disappointed for my in coming first grader as the entire point in sending her was to become acclimated to her new school. I too believe both programs can exist in a secure environment.

I remember growing up in Cranford going to playground camp at my elementary school. I made so many life long friends and have the fondest memories. Going to camp at another school in town is not the same. This seems so inequitable - why do Wilson kids get the short end of the stick? And this isn’t the first year. Please reconsider and allow the parents and the children of Wilson’s voices to be heard. It is the right thing to do!

My 3 kids attend this camp and it means a lot to us to have it so close. We are able to have a sitter that does not drive assist with the kids when they attend this camp making it a huge convenience for a family with two parents who don't work locally. Plus my kids all love it!!!!!

My sons love the playground camp at Wilson and were looking forward to this last year there. They attended camp at Washington the year Wilson got the roof redone and it wasn’t the same. Please reconsider this decision!

This has been a wonderful experience for my children for so many years and would hate to see it not be part of their summer. It’s a perfect way for our children to stay connected to their school peers without a scheduling of a play date or another organized camp that is so costly and directed in activities.
