Commissioner Moore's background in and understanding of architecture and planning perspectives makes her a vital member of the planning commission. If we are taking our housing emergency seriously we need the balance of practicality, fairness, and sensitivity to our built environment that she provides.

It is a deep professional pleasure to add my endorsement to this petition for extending Commissioner Kathrin Moore's stella history with the San Francisco Planning Commission. Her key role amongst Commissioners of diverse backgrounds and skills is to assess and recommend with wisdom the urban design qualities of proposed projects, including the most complex, often sensing what counts far beyond the Urban Design Guidelines. As an Architect who occasionally comes before the commission for approval, I would readily accept her critique as it would be so, so likely be a well-considered interpretation of our work. Kathrin does far more than sift out poorly considered architectural design, she has the capacity to effectively comprehend the positive value of atypical design and assist her colleagues' understanding of why it benefits the community at large, even if it seemingly conflicts with the City's Urban Design Guidelines!
