We are opposed to the Special Use Permit for a 120 foot tall microwave cell tower located at 1725 Bullene Ave. in the Brook Creek Neighborhood. Life safety is a major concern in the near proximity of microwave towers, especially for children. The Verizon tower would be incompatible with the predominantly residential uses on most sides. Verizon has failed to show that they cannot instead locate an antenna on an existing tower or nearby tall building like the Co-op grain elevators. The Burroughs Creek Corridor Plan calls for lessintensive commercial zoning in this commercial area, but the Verizon proposal would intensify the industrial zoning even more.
