As a parent of a graduate of the mesivta, I will share some words I shared with Rabbi Kalish:
After graduating from Waterbury, our son is now a young man who is more in touch with himself, who is real, who is expressive, who has a deep and profound connection to his rabbis, friends, and yeshiva. A boy who has climbed mountains and achieved, a boy who has direction in life and is honest with himself and those around him. Who recognizes what is truly important, his strengths, his weaknesses, his struggles, his triumphs.

My son has been a student for almost one year at the Mesivta of Waterberry, currently in 11th grade. This is the first time since fourth grade that he is invested heart and soul in his education, begging to return to school and emotionally invested in relationships with The RABBI’s and other wonderful staff. He was a boy who had given up on everyone and everything- himself included- only finding interest in drugs and other inappropriate behaviors. He heard from so many other boys of the positive, loving and supportive atmosphere at the school, knowing that was what he was missing, begging me to allow him to attend until I finally agreed. I’m now sorry it took me so long! This school has helped return a respectful, loving, responsible, helpful, motivated, clean and sober son to me, who is at peace with himself and the world, has let go of anger and resentments and now has goals, hopes and plans for a successful future! There are so many boys like him who werent welcome or didnt feel comfortable in other schools, and have grown through their experiences here to be young men that any parent would be honored to call their son. Yes the school has a very distinctive and original approach to education, And Because of this, they help each boy create himself into a whole person- in an unrivaled manner. As parents we greatly appreciate all you can do to quickly help our school re-open so they can return to their important work of becoming educated, positive, contributing members of our society. Thank you.

Please with all do respect, re-open our boys school. It is a place of learning and understanding. A place where a boy can learn how he can truly express himself, and learn how to become a better man. After experiencing time in this school, our sons have graduated into promising professionals and upstanding citizens, husbands and fathers. Again I will Plead with you to have our boys return to their school and be able to continue on their journeys of life.
Thank you

My son is a current student in the Mesivta and my older son is a proud, accomplished graduate. This school skillfully and patiently guides it's students in the complex process of lasting self growth. The principals and teachers develop close and meaningful relationships with the boys which empowers them to overcome their challenges and succeed. The school provides a full schedule of classes and academic coursework as well as sports and music. It has an exemplary track record of graduating happy, healthy, productive young men who nearly all continue to peruse furthur academic studies. Please facilitate the quick reopening of this unique and important school. Thank you!

Our kids need to go back to learning. They are home waiting for their amazing school to open!! It’s not healthy for all these boys to do nothing all day.
The school needs to reopen as soon as possible.

My son is a graduate of this incredible school. He's been a part of it since 10th grade. He has remained so very connected to the school and his teachers who are healthy, attentive, motivating mentors who instilled my son with a love of learning and of life. They gave him back what he lost and then some. They allowed him to soak up the atmosphere without any pressure and to mature and grow at his own pace. His connection is so strong that his whole future is planned around being a part of this school as a mentor himself one day! Please consider reopening the school as soon as possible so all the wonderful boys who call this their home away from home can return and so my son can continue to dream about his future there!

This school, The Mesivta of Waterbury, is the most unique and most successful Orthodox high school - I have ever seen! This school has a wonderful staff and the teachers and Rabbis are leading it with a powerful educational approach that's founded on respect and love of each individual student. I have never seen a high school with zero bullying. There is not one instance of any student or teacher who bullys one another or each other. The bullying situation is in every single school I have ever seen and this is the only one where each boy gets along and respects each other. Even though not all are friends, every single one is kind and respectful of each other. You won't find that in any other school- ANYWHERE-except HERE - in the Waterbury Mesivta! This is due to the fact the the teachers treat the students as their very own child and they love them for who they are, no matter what, with no strings attached! Please help this wonderful institution open soon so they can continue the amazing and important learning and work that is so crucial to the proper development of our sons!

Our son graduated the Mesivta of Waterbury last June and is now serving in the US army. While attending for only 1 year, he reformed himself - he stopped using marijuana as an escape and began working out regularly and taking care of his health. We credit the administration for their warmth and acceptance of our son where he was holding at the time he joined the school, and for providing the safe and loving atmosphere he needed to find himself and become a real man, one we are proud of today and who will serve his country with courage and strength. He will God willing continue on the path the Mesivta of Waterbury paved for him to become a successful and contributing member of society. We need this school to reopen and continue the way it’s been, for so many struggling youth. May they all achieve success there.
