Price Waterhouse Cooper have placed the track bed behind the Pegasus club in Herd Lane, Corringham, Essex, have placed the section of land that was the trackbed of The Corringham Light Railway together with the sale of the Pegasus club lot, meaning that this lands present open area could become lost altogether in the sale of the club to a Malaysian businessman.

With this sale, we could lose this land if the new owners decide to either block off this section of land or change the boundary so that no-one can walk behind the club by putting up a fence.

The Corringham Light Railway Society have been offered the chance to turn the area into a walk and cycleway under the Pathways to the marshes heritage lottery bid that will help to make the area open to walkers and cyclist alike with access to the Manorway and beyond, by using the remaining section of track bed, but we do not own this land.

We are looking to work with the new owners of the Peg and hope to work towards acquiring a lease of the land in order for us to acquire funding for this project and return as well as adding a bit of character to this area and would ask that the local community could become involved by employing volunteers to look after the area for a new generation to use.

The Society already has created a nature area that helps to look after the many wildlife that have become accustomed to this area over the years. All this could be lost if the new owners decide to block off the area or we are asked to leave the land alone.

Please help us to keep this land open and free to walk and cycle along. This is all we ask you to do, is sign this petition, thank you.
