Please improve Wandsworth Common sports pitches

The children's and youth pitches along Bollingbroke Road on Wandsworth Common have long suffered from poor drainage. We have come to expect significant cancellations during the autumn and / or winter months. This year some of the pitches are in a far worse condition than we have ever experienced before. There is a real danger of twisted or broken ankles from the seriously rutted parts of the pitches brought about by shoddy maintainence machinery. Even before a game has been played, large areas have no grass from the failed reseeding works undertaken in May.
We want Wandsworth Council to put in place an immediate improvement program to include better maintenance as well as the creation of replacement pitches on the spare ground next to the full sized pitches on Bollingbroke Road for this season.
Also, to allocate some significant funds to the pitch infrastructure (base, soil, drainage) so that the local schools and clubs can enjoy their sport on pitches that are firstly safe, and secondly enjoyable to play on. The borough has a potentially fantastic resource here. Poor management and lack of vision squanders this potential. Please invest some of our tax revenue in this important community resource which so many local residents use. At least 600 4-15 year olds use this facility on saturday morning, not to mention over 2000 school kids using this facility during the week.
