This property was gifted by the Whitlocks, and it should remain to all the people it was given to--not just a few.

According to the Land Exchanges and Sales Guide available on the Michigan DNR website, "The DNR will consider selling or exchanging such lands if the transaction enhances the management of natural resources or provides other benefit." If you have to opportunity to comapre the lands being offered for trade I encourage you to do so, I strongly feel the "public benefit" is being compromised rather than enhanced.

I do not agree with nor do I believe that any donated or state land sould be able to be blocked off, given to, purchased or developed by anyone for anyreason other than to ensure the future "free" use and accessibility to the bublic! Nor do I believe or agree with developing adjacent land to lands in which are of free access to end up being charged fees and or being harrassed for the use of that land...

I believe everyone can use this piece of property. It should remain as is, so that is honors the familes wishes.

In the spirit and honor of Dr. Whitlock's intentions, the ownership of this property needs to remain with the people and the State of Michigan. Properties such as this one in Sebewaing are the essence of the "Pure Michigan" public awareness initiative. It is very much a vital part of the Michigan experience for visitors, residents and wildlife of Michigan. Do not let it go.
