It's a very sad day today. There are no words to express how distressed I am by what happened yesterday. Nonetheless - THANK YOU to all of you who signed my petition. I'd like to think we did our best for Lester Bower. And the fight to end capital punishment continues. Love from Patrick

1. There are doubts about Bower's guilt. NO ONE should be eligible for execution while there is a possibility s/he is innocent.
2. He's been in prison for more than 30 years. He's not only a different person, he's already served the equivalent of a life sentence. His execution at this stage serves absolutely no purpose.
3. The law says we should not kill. I agree. That goes for you, too.

Please consider the facts on this case and do not execute this man. Life in prison is worse than death and allows for errors to be corrected. No good will come from executing him.

This man is a good friend to my teacher; I have never heard of a purer soul. His character is genuine and passionate. My heart is saddened that today, June 3rd, someone will decide if he is worthy of his life. If today is his last day, he will be judged by the only voice that truly matters. On Earth, his innocence is only truly known by himself. But, that is what matters most - remaining authentic to ones self.
May he be set free from all evil.

The additional evidence that came to light after his trial, including a witness testifying to the fact that the murders were committed by other men, provide far more than "reasonable doubt." . Out justice system is supposed to presume innocent unless proven guilty. The missing $3000 could have been stolen by the men who came and killed these four men. With so much doubt, Texas needs to retry this case.

It is not our job to decide when someone's life should end, nor is the death penalty an acceptable form of punishment.
