We fans of sports were blessed because sport in general was at an all time low after the black sox scandal when low and behold comes the greatest athlete on and off the field the world would ever see. Athletes of today could not shine the Babes shoes off the field. You never and I mean never did you hear The "Babe" not give anyone an autograph and it seems like every city he was in he would stop at a children's hospital. The world will never see the likes of a prerson like this. Sure he liked to have fun but that was what made his character so beloved . Oh I would give my right leg to have seen the Babe play in person. Baseball please get this one right. Everyone in the world new who the "Babe" was. Do you think anyone in Europe knows who AROD is ?

Babe Ruth will always be the ultimate American Icon who's done so much for America especially during the Great Depression years. He saved baseball itself twice. His # should be retired because no one has done as much for baseball as he has.
