I live behind Red Hill in Moanalua Valley all my life. If I get sick because of this, I want to Sue and hope you would too.

1/2014 = 26,000 gallons JP8 fuel leak; PRIOR to 2014 =many more leaks. Underground rusted tanks are 77 years old (1943 built). Moving the tanks above ground, preparing for inevitable leaks in tanks that are maintained above ground, with pipes that are as short as possible, and a "tank within a tank" double lined tanks system vs. "Epoxy" coating inside a tank that is already rusting, a "life of tank" plan, with activated charcoal lining all areas under which there is a pipeline, the Board of Water supports an "Above the Cap Rock" location that is not above an aquifer. Because our water lens is integrated - contamination would move underground depending on the water pressure changes with different volumes being pumped. Remember 2014 was leaked due to HUMAN ERROR during "maintenance" where holes were not "patched" property by a newer contractor - the prior contractor having worked 5 years was switched out for some reason. The public is interested in commenting on the protocol that exists, let's look at the details, let's be honest, but why is there no "Department of Ecology" like in Washington State, where someone coordinates the solution while protecting the interests of the next 7 generations to come. If 250 million gallons are even necessary (the other two locations relocated their tanks at about 1/2 capacity) - and even if $5 billion is necessary to do so, etc. shouldn't we consider pure water a necessity / priority over fuel? Sometimes there is no choice but to do the right thing. Air Force & Army may have to help the Navy with other sites - and the fuel tanks may have to be separated and re-designed. Let's all ask the Chief of Navy Operations to make the Navy's mission - to do the right thing: to protect the water that is more valuable to life than oil.

I am amnesed that just 6 people in our community think that there is a danger of water contamination .Fuel has been liking for years, in our water and the navy has ignored it. My husband used to take care of those tanks and brought out the dangers to the attention of the navy ! This was years ago and nothing has been done yet, why is that ? Simple $$$

Our water is too precious to take irresponsible chances.

Please keep our drinking water clean and healthy. Stop the contamination.
