This oak tree may not yet be an Arlington County designated "Specimen Tree" that has received protection under the County's Tree Preservation Ordinance, Chapter 67 (Trees and Shrubs) (see: http://environment.arlingtonva.us/trees/support-trees/specimen-trees/tree-preservation-ordinance/ ). If the County Board has not yet provided this tree with this designation and level of protection, I suggest that somebody who is interested in protecting this tree should submit a nomination form to the County that requests this designation. The nomination form is available at http://arlingtonva.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/13/2013/09/tree-ord-nomination-form.pdf .
