How can a council possibly argue that they get to determine what people do with their own private property? Would they ask you to repaint your car if that had a logo on it? Horrendous abuse of power trying to silence an important message

I believe any property owner should have the right to put a mural up on their own wall. It’s a private dwelling, it’s not a commercial sign, plus it’s not breaking any social norms around showing offensive imagery. I really don’t understand why it’s a problem.! If they want to create rules for this, then they need to require every property/ landowner, to seek permission for anything they put up on their external street fronting walls, which of course would be ridiculous. (Next they will be asking all property owners to get permission to put up any signs saying “ no junk junk mail in their letterbox”! - That’s also signage, and that’s put up on people’s boundaries, and it’s also creating a message - oh yeah right......but they don’t take issue with that! It really is ridiculous!
