I would very much appreciate if the teachers would use zoom to teach our children! It is crucial for the kids to have this contact with teachers in order to stay at their level and not slide backward in their school system!

Please explain where the well financed money from GNPS is going? Why are other school districts able to get it together

Other districts have been able to provide students with “live,” regularly scheduled “classes.” I would expect the well financed GNPS to have the ability to do the same.

If other districts can have live teaching and “classes” I don’t understand how the well-financed GNPS does not have the same capability.

It is extremely important that the district come into the times with video instruction -- live or recorded. Sending packets home or uploading lesson plans through Google Classroom will not work longer term since it is the parents who will need to assist their children -- many with the inability to do so given their work demands, language barriers or other external factors. Furthermore, we are all dealing with this unprecedented time in our lives and doing our best to work with what we have but our kids should not be shortchanged by union politics, MOAs or other red tape during this critical time. This current crisis could last into next year and if we do not rectify this issue today then the district will have a lot of unhappy parents come September.

The current setting has lots of loading parts and pattens had to be the “teacher”. We indeed need some live classes for all students. We understand the safety concern but what is taught should not be considered in high privacy classification. Please hear our voice and do something! Thanks.

It makes no sense not to utilize this incredible opportunity to enhance learning when we have the privilege and resources( you sent home iPads!!!) to do so. My son in middle school has mandatory live zoom meetings while my daughter is studying alone.

They have been doing this in NYC from day 1 using Google hangouts - no privacy issues whatsoever. Other districts in Long Island too, through zoom, from pre-k levels on. Feels like we are missing out in one of the best school districts in NY, with the best teachers.
