The Women's Institute is currently inclusive of trans women and this was clarified to be the position of the WI in 2017. There have been no concerns expressed previously to any existing trans women members.

Recently 'gender critical' groups have attempted to make it harder for trans individuals to exist in public life based on reductionistic ideologies around 'sex' and the denial of trans existence. We believe that this current attempt to prevent trans women from becoming members of the WI is from such a 'gender critical' group

We the undersigned request that the Women's Institute continue to allow trans women to become members and for current members to remain members of the WI.

I am truly moved by the stories being shared in the comments and it reminds me that this is about people being able to belong exactly as they are. This response belongs entirely to you because I only started this as a small thought that clearly resonated with many more of you than I expected.

Apparently this hasn't been a problem for the years you've already been including transwomen. I'm cis-female and welcome all my sisters!

I’ve been blessed with family and friends that are trans. I’ve seen their bravery, strength, kindness, forgiveness and incredible spirit time after time. Solidarity

The spite, hate and vitriol from the Gender Critical minority should not serve to exclude any women, cis or trans.

Proud that the WI stood up for inclusion several years back, and hope that they won't back down in the face of the latest anti-trans moral panic stirred up by hate groups

I am a cis woman who feels strongly that our trans sisters should continue to be included.

If you look like a woman, you will be treated like one. Ofcouse being treated like a woman shouldn't be a bad thing. We live in a world that still marginalises women, and strans women share a lot of that. Having a space were this is understood is amazing. Being the kind of, on the ground in the communities face to face sort of institute means, you will have a far greater understanding of what trans woman are like generaly. Without being panicked with this transphobic media push. I was greatfull to understand you were and are inclusive, and would be given hope if you would remain inclusive. Thank you for your time.

Is it hate, or a legitimate separation, when trans-people get their own Institute? Why should women not be allowed to be among their kin only, when that is the topic. Trans-people should have started with their own institute, or rooms in every gender they rightfully are part of, but not on expense of other genders.
