Multi-Platinum, R&B crooner, author of the New York Times best seller How To Get Out Of Your Own Way, and motion picture megastar Tyrese Gibson was recently thrown out of a radio station in Delaware for taking a stand against liquor stores in front of schools. According to Tony Quartarone, Station owner of WJKS KISS 101.7, who didn't disagree with Tyreses position stated that the use of the word "homies" was condescending to his listeners. In a TMZ.com article (http://m.tmz.com/article_head.ftl?id=http://www.tmz.com/2011/09/28/tyrese-gibson-radio-delaware-liquor-stores-schools-interview-banned/) which confirms the owners statements, Tyreses music has also been banned from the airways of the biggest Hip Hop station in the state. The purpose of this petition is to boycott WJKS KISS 101.7 and its sponsors and force them to lift the ban on Tyreses music and have it returned to normal rotation, as well as a formal apology from the station owner. I am urging all of the Hip Hop, R&B, Gospel community currently with material in rotation a WJKS Kiss 101.7 to join me in supporting Tyrese by removing their music as an act of solidarity and in support of free speech rights. The multi-talented balladeer recently completed a multi-city book tour promoting his premier novel How To Get Out Of Your Own Way. A tour which spanned from Watts in California, to Howard University in Atlanta and HueMan BOOK Store in Harlem, NYC. The entertainer turned author has partnered with former Hip Hop icon and legend Reverend Run to bring to the masses Manology, another book likely to find its place on the NY Times best seller list. Tyrese recently spoke at Willmington East Side Middle School where he dressed the importance is achieving in life.
