This shelter has had issues for a long time now. They should be more like the Madison County Shelter who works hard to find homes for their wayward animals.

Bea I am with you. If we aren’t their voice who will be? Laws need to be kept strict with owners abandoning, over breeding and not caring for their pets more and shelters being held accountable to do the right thing by the voiceless, innocent animals who end up in their care. It’s easy to become “ comfortable” with the setting of just euthanizing dogs because it’s “ the humane thing to do” but it’s not. Most of the reasons we wouldn’t put a human who doesn’t have a voice down why would we do that for a dog who has no idea what’s going on? I know people don’t care for animals as people like bea and I do, but that’s okay because we will do what’s right no matter how many people turn the blind eye! You got my vote girl. You’re doing a great thing

Why can't these animals be traded to a less crowded shelter with more exposure?

I think this plan needs to begin with replacing current management with people educated in current shelter management practices and with an enthusiasm for saving these homeless pets. The current management’s approach is not working and they aren’t trying to make it better.

I think it is so sick. No matter how many animals they have. Poor fur babies should not be put down how can them people sleep at night knowing what they have done and are doing. How sad

Why isn't this already happening? What's being proposed is a bare minium and should already be happening. Sounds like time for a management overhaul!!! And an increase to the budget, if necessary, to hire the proper personnel!!!! This is SHAMEFUL and a black eye on Culpeper County!!!!

These should be minimum basic requirements of any shelter.

No animal should be killed because it's not wanted. You can dress it up by calling it euthanized but it's still killing. Kill babies because one person doesn't want them, kill animals because one person doesn't want them what next? The elderly? The disabled?

Spent 12 years on BoD of a county animal shelter - not a fan of 'no kill' shelters but EVERY adoptable animal deserves a chance for a good home. These seem to be reasonable suggestions - depending upon volunteers available for those dog walks. But outdoor playtime can do wonders for their spirits (the dogs, not the volunteers).

They gave me a sick kitten that ended up passing away and causing my family a lot of stress. They put down too many animals! Someone needs to investigate them.
