I live in a neighboring town and do have 5 chichens that are sorta like pets. They give us eggs regularly and are so entertaining to watch. I believe it is a good opportunity for families to learn to can for animals as well as put food on their tables. It is a good "family" opportunity.

I live in a neighboring community (Green) and several of my neighbors have chickens. They have never been bothersome! Allowing a reasonable number of chickens doesn't hurt anyone! Please consider changing this legislation!

We can have chickens in the city of Columbus Ohio. Much bigger population and often smaller yards. Why not in Plain Township?

My wife and I cannot eat store bought eggs as they aggravate our IBS. Fresh eggs from chickens raised in healthy conditions have no negative effect on us. Chickens are great for keeping insects at bay which is something everyone appreciates. They gladly eat your table scraps, turning it into eggs and manure for compost. I can use the compost to enrich my garden and grow better quality food for my family. Soil enriched with chicken manure will increase a gardens' yield and we can share the excess with our neighbors. Having four hens in our backyard would provide more than enough eggs for ourselves and we could, again, share the excess with our neighbors. A coop that is kept outdoors and is cleaned regularly does not create noxious odors and 4-6 hens will cause no more disturbance than my neighbors dog. The benefits to owning backyard chickens are overwhelming. Please, let's lift this ordinance. Thank you.

I live on the line of plain township and North Canton city. My yard butts up against a yard that can have chickens, but I can't. I wish to have just 3 hens for fresh eggs and to teach my kids how to care for chickens. Backyard chickens are becoming as common as a backyard gardens nowadays. People want to know their roots and be more natural.
