This is affecting me hugely! I live in Northern Ireland and currently doing my Nursing degree in Liverpool , I get homesick alot and with the changes to placement hrs I will struggle and it will effect me emotionally , mentally and financially. I believe alot of nursing students will drop out or not apply for the degree due to this matter.

Already I do 5/6 days weeks between uni, placement and work to support myself and my family as a single mother aswell as a student nurse. I get one day off to spend on assignments/exam revision, to focus on myself and to actually get abit of time with my children.
If these new conditions had been made apparent before the course began I’d be studying nursing at a different university. As far as I’m concerned I was informed of the ins and outs during my induction week, I agreed an continued with the programme. I won’t be sacrificing my 1 day off a week because for some reason these conditions have now changed 1 year into the degree.

New requirements are burden to mature students. Childcare fees will increase, less time to study, less time to work ( yes most of us are working every week to feed families and pay bills).

it is really hard for us as student nurses as it is, if the demands change i feel the university will loose lots of students, we do 30 hours a week unpaid, we dont get enough money from our loan so must work on the side to stay finacially stable, this would mean doing 5 days unpaid and another 2 just to stay finacially stable, then on top of this we have assighnments and must revise for exams? this isnt going to do anyones mental health any favours, we are told how important our mental health is and how we must make time for ourselves , how do you expect us to do this and meet your demands, people are going to loose time with there children friends and family, this wasnt discussed with any of us beforehand and has just been sprung on us, we will be exhausted and drained and it is unfair for us to be expected to do this, we will never have any days off as we must work to stay finacially stable and i personally would really struggle

This will lower the number of student applying for nursing courses and mentally and physically affect us as student nurses in a negative way .. has nothing been learnt from the tragic incident a few years back ?

Very upset with these changes they're enforcing without a consultation. Let's fight this. We're paying enough to at least warrant a logical explanation to the changes.

Being a student nurse and mother of three, the new changes to placement hours will make finding childcare even more difficult than it already has been. The lack of communication or consideration for the diverse backgrounds ljmu students come from is genuinely saddening!

It is extremely unfair to change hours and days a course that is already extremely stressful and we don't get paid for any hours that we do. We have to balance doing 30+ hours as well as trying to do our assignments and exams as well as trying to work to have money to live off. Changing our hours to nights and only short shifts does not benefit our education at all as we don't see much on a night shift and short shifts you aren't able to learn much we're as long days you are able to see a lot more of the patients learn more and see more of a patient's journey. This is unfair considering we pay for our education.
